NEALS Meeting at the MND Symposium
Date: Sunday, December 9th
Time: 7:15am – 8:15am
Venue: Scottish Event Campus (SEC), Room: Alsh 1, Exhibition Way, Glasgow, G3 8YW
Please join us for a presentation on plans for an ALS Platform Trial through the NEALS Consortium.
How can we evolve to most effectively fight ALS in 2019?
There is a pressing need to accelerate the ALS drug development process due to the growing pipeline of therapeutic candidates, recent breakthroughs in our understanding of disease genetics and mechanisms, and the urgency to improve care for people affected by this serious illness. This is the right time to more rapidly test treatments, in the right people and at the right time, and improve access to clinical trials for people with ALS.
Over the last few months, we have been learning from clinical trialists and biostatisticians who have been innovating the clinical trial landscape in oncology and other neurologic diseases with the goal of bringing their most successful methods to the ALS field.
We will present new approaches to design efficient and informative early-phase clinical trials and will share plans for starting an innovative ALS Platform Trial at NEALS in 2019. We will also update the membership on the NEALS Central IRB (CIRB). The CIRB is already supporting a few NEALS studies and is a critical component for the success of the planned Platform Trial. Sites are invited to join the NEALS CIRB.
There will be time for Q&A and dialogue. Discussion will be co-led by Drs. Sabrina Paganoni and Merit Cudkowicz (Massachusetts General Hospital).
Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
